The Supply Chain Funding index fell to 6.2 in February compared to 6.6 in October 2016. Dr John Ashcroft, chief economist, said: “A further slump in the index towards 5.5 would be a real cause for concern for the welfare of SMEs in the UK and the capacity to capitalise on the export opportunities a truly global Britain may present.”

ECONOMIC REVIEW AUTUMN 2016

In the first edition of the SCFi, the supply chain scored 6.6. Construction is the worst performing sector with a score of 6.0. Wholesale, Retail and Distribution has the best performance scoring 7.1. Manufacturing and engineering performed broadly in line with the average performance.
